England’s fast bowler Jamie Overton will miss the remaining two one-day internationals against the West Indies due to a broken little finger. Overton suffered the injury during the first ODI at Edgbaston while trying to catch a return ball. Despite the pain, he returned to bowl and took three wickets in England’s big win.
The 31-year-old is expected to be out for about a month. This means he will also miss the three T20 matches that follow the ODI series. England has not yet named a replacement for Overton ahead of the second ODI in Cardiff on Sunday, where England could win the series.
Matthew Potts and Luke Wood are the other fast bowlers in the ODI squad. Potts is expected to play in Sunday’s match. Overton’s injury adds to the list of England’s fast bowlers currently sidelined with injuries, including Mark Wood, Jofra Archer, and Gus Atkinson.
