Actress and YouTube star Ivana Alawi has firmly denied rumors suggesting she underwent plastic surgery. Speaking on Fast Talk with Boy Abunda on Wednesday, Alawi addressed the viral claims, calling them “the worst fake news” about her.
“Ang kapal n’yo. Walang retoke diyan,” Ivana said during the show’s quick-response segment, dismissing the speculations with a candid tone.
No Plans for Surgery: “I’m Happy With My Look”
Ivana shared that while she has insecurities like anyone else, plastic surgery is not part of her plans.
“OK na ako, masaya na ako. Contour-contour na lang ‘yan,” she added with a smile, emphasizing that makeup tricks—rather than surgery—enhance her facial features.
She openly talked about her past insecurity regarding her nose.
“I think na-embrace ko kasi lahat ng insecurity ko… ‘Yung ilong ko po. Kaya nga sinasabi n’yo, retoke? Insecurity ko nga ‘to,” Ivana explained.
Despite public speculation, she said embracing her flaws helped her grow more confident over time.
Rumors Sparked by Online Comments
Speculation about Ivana’s looks has been trending on social media for months. Some netizens pointed out what they believed were physical changes, sparking plastic surgery rumors. However, Ivana’s recent interview laid those claims to rest.
Social media experts say public figures, especially women, are often targets of unrealistic beauty expectations.
“Online trolls thrive on speculation. Celebrities like Ivana often face scrutiny even when they’ve made no physical changes,” said a media analyst at Philippine Media Watch.
A Rising Star in Entertainment and Content Creation
Ivana Alawi rose to fame as an actress and online content creator. With over 16 million subscribers on YouTube, she is one of the Philippines’ top digital influencers.
She was recently seen in Pinoy Big Brother: Celebrity Collab Edition, a special season that brings together stars from GMA Network and ABS-CBN. Her appearance gained positive feedback from viewers.
After leaving the Big Brother house, Ivana promised to collaborate with fellow contestant Dustin Yu on her YouTube channel.
“Dustin, abangan mo ‘yung vlog ko. Invite kita,” she said after the show.
The edition marks the 20th year of Pinoy Big Brother in the Philippines and is the first-ever joint production between GMA and ABS-CBN—two major media networks previously seen as rivals.
Body Positivity and the Pressure of Fame
Ivana’s statements come at a time when celebrities are increasingly speaking out against unrealistic beauty standards.
In recent years, stars like Nadine Lustre, Liza Soberano, and Heart Evangelista have also addressed their own experiences with body image and public judgment.
Health experts say that open conversations about insecurities and body acceptance are essential in today’s digital age.
“When celebrities normalize self-love and reject cosmetic pressures, it empowers others to do the same,” said Dr. Carla Meneses, a mental health counselor based in Makati.
No Retoke, Just Real Talk
Ivana’s direct and honest approach on Fast Talk with Boy Abunda earned praise from fans, many of whom appreciated her transparency and authenticity.
Her fans took to X (formerly Twitter) and Instagram to voice support:
- “Retokada? She’s naturally beautiful, period.”
- “Ivana doesn’t need surgery. She’s glowing with confidence.”
The star remains focused on creating content and working on future entertainment projects, steering clear of negative comments.
