It was a dramatic weekend in European football, with tight title races and standout individual performances grabbing global headlines. Across the top leagues, big names like Vinícius Júnior, Harry Kane, Cristiano Ronaldo, and Lionel Messi continued to make history with impressive records.

While title favorites like Liverpool, Manchester City, and Barcelona dropped crucial points, individual brilliance stood out in stadiums across Europe and beyond.

Premier League: Liverpool Slip, City Held, Fernandes Leads in Creativity

Liverpool suffered a surprising 4-3 defeat to Fulham. However, thanks to Arsenal’s 2-2 draw with Everton, the Reds still hold an 11-point lead at the top of the Premier League table.

Manchester City were held to a goalless draw in the Manchester derby, with United showing resilience at the Etihad. Casemiro was a standout performer, registering 11 tackles — tying the record for most tackles in a Premier League game by a Manchester United player since data collection began in 2006-07.

Meanwhile, Bruno Fernandes continues to dominate creatively, having now created 75 chances — the most in the league this season.

Southampton made unwanted history by becoming the first Premier League club to be relegated with seven games remaining, highlighting a rough season at the bottom end of the table.

In another stunning stat, Liverpool conceded three first-half goals for the first time since their 7-2 loss to Aston Villa in 2020 — despite scoring the opening goal of the match.

LaLiga: Real Madrid Stumble, Vinícius Equals Ronaldo Nazario’s Record

It was a tough week for Real Madrid, who lost 2-1 at home to Valencia. Despite taking 21 shots, Los Blancos couldn’t find a way through — marking their first home loss with that many shots since January 2019.

Their expected goals (xG) value of 3.7 was their highest in a LaLiga loss in the last 10 seasons, showing just how wasteful they were.

The match wasn’t without positives, however. Vinícius Júnior scored again, bringing his tally to 104 goals for Real Madrid in all competitions — equaling the great Ronaldo Nazario as the top-scoring Brazilian in the club’s history. Interestingly, Valencia are Vinícius’s favorite opponents, with nine goals in 13 games against them.

Meanwhile, Barcelona maintained their four-point lead at the top of LaLiga after a 1-1 draw with Real Betis. They are now unbeaten in 22 matches across all competitions in 2025, their longest streak since a 23-game run in 2019.

Atletico Madrid also stayed in the headlines, scoring their fifth stoppage-time winner of the season — the most in LaLiga this year.

Serie A: Roma Extend Unbeaten Run, Kean Sets Fiorentina Record

In Italy, Roma are now unbeaten in 15 league games, a streak not seen since 2016. The run includes 11 wins and 4 draws, pushing them closer to a Champions League spot.

Moise Kean has found form at Fiorentina, scoring 22 goals this season. He becomes the club’s top scorer in a single campaign since Alberto Gilardino’s 25 goals in 2008-09.

Bundesliga: Kane Reaches 100, Müller Bids Farewell

In Germany, Harry Kane continues to impress with 34 goals in all competitions for Bayern Munich. He has now contributed 100 goals (78 goals, 22 assists) in just 84 matches.

Kane trails only Robert Lewandowski’s 38 goals this season among players in Europe’s top five leagues.

Elsewhere, Thomas Müller announced he will leave Bayern at season’s end. The club legend has played 743 competitive matches, scoring 247 goals and providing 221 assists — the highest in Europe’s top leagues since 2008.

Young star Jamal Musiala scored his 45th Bundesliga goal at just 22. Only legends Gerd Müller (79) and Uli Hoeness (59) had more before turning 23.

Ligue 1: PSG Crowned Champions Again

Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) secured their eighth Ligue 1 title in nine years — clinching it with six games to spare. They remain unbeaten in the 2024-25 season, making them the only top-tier team across England, France, Germany, Italy, Spain, Netherlands, and Portugal without a league loss.

Messi and Ronaldo: Records Keep Coming

Cristiano Ronaldo scored twice for Al Nassr, making it his fifth multi-goal game of the season. He now has 21 league goals, leading the Saudi Pro League. It also marks the 15th time he’s scored 20+ goals in a league season — a feat few can match.

Over in Major League Soccer (MLS), Lionel Messi netted his first MLS goal against Toronto. He has now scored against 13 of the 19 MLS teams he’s faced. With 44 total goal contributions in just 29 games, Messi has already surpassed Gonzalo Higuaín as Inter Miami’s all-time leader.

From Vinícius Júnior tying a legend to Harry Kane hitting a major milestone, the weekend was packed with moments that will be remembered by fans worldwide. With title races heating up and club legends like Müller preparing their farewells, the European football scene promises more excitement ahead.
