Actress Bella Thorne has come forward with disturbing claims against actor Mickey Rourke, accusing him of misconduct during the filming of their 2020 movie Girl. Thorne described the experience as one of the worst of her acting career, stating that Rourke bruised her genitals with a metal grinder during a scene, and that his actions left her humiliated in front of the entire crew.
The allegations were shared in a series of Instagram Stories posted by Thorne on Friday, April 11. She also reacted to recent news about Rourke receiving a warning for alleged homophobic remarks toward singer JoJo Siwa on Celebrity Big Brother UK, suggesting a pattern of inappropriate behavior.
“This f—ing dude. GROSS,” Thorne wrote, alongside a screenshot of a BBC article reporting Rourke’s reprimand.
Thorne Details Alleged On-Set Incident
Thorne, now 27, recounted a particular scene from Girl where her hands were zip-tied behind her back. According to her, Rourke was supposed to bring a metal grinder near her knee cap in a staged act. However, she claims he used it on her pelvic area instead—through her jeans—striking her repeatedly and causing bruises on her pelvic bone.
“Working with Mickey was one of the all-time worst experiences of my life working as an actress,” Thorne wrote.
She also shared a screenshot of a social media post where she alleged that Rourke revved an engine to spray her with dirt for another scene. “I guess he thought it was funny to humiliate me in front of the entire crew,” she added.
Forced to Handle Situation Alone
Thorne claimed that she eventually had to approach Rourke in his trailer alone to persuade him to finish the project. She said Rourke was shouting demands and refused to speak to the film’s director, Chad Faust, or the producers.
“In fact, I had to beg,” Thorne wrote, adding that his refusal to cooperate put the entire production at risk.
Despite the personal discomfort, Thorne said she tried to keep the film moving forward so the cast and crew’s work wouldn’t go to waste.
A representative for Rourke, 72, has not responded to media requests for comment as of Saturday morning.
Rourke’s Recent Controversy on Celebrity Big Brother UK
Thorne’s allegations come shortly after Rourke was issued a formal warning by Celebrity Big Brother UK producers. While appearing on the reality show, Rourke reportedly made offensive remarks toward JoJo Siwa, who is openly gay.
He allegedly told Siwa he would “make her straight” and used a British slang term for a cigarette that is considered a homophobic slur in the U.S. Rourke then added, “I’m not talking to you,” in reference to Siwa.
Producers told Rourke he would be removed from the show if the behavior continued.
According to the show’s official statement, “Mickey Rourke has been warned. Any further use of offensive language will result in immediate removal.”
Movie ‘Girl’ Released in 2020
Girl, released in 2020, is a thriller directed by Chad Faust and features Bella Thorne in the lead role. The film follows a young woman who returns to her hometown to kill her abusive father, only to discover he’s already been murdered.
Mickey Rourke, known for his performance in The Wrestler, plays a mysterious man tied to the central mystery. The film received mixed reviews, with praise for Thorne’s performance but criticism of the pacing.
Rourke, once considered a Hollywood comeback story after his 2008 role in The Wrestler, has been the subject of multiple controversies in recent years. His latest appearance on Celebrity Big Brother UK has drawn criticism from both viewers and LGBTQ+ advocacy groups.
Industry Reactions and Growing Accountability
Thorne’s accusations are part of a broader push for safer working conditions in Hollywood. Her openness has sparked support online, with many fans and fellow actors applauding her courage in speaking out.
No formal legal action has been announced, and Rourke has not issued any public statement in response to the claims.
